INNOVATION CENTRE 20 This year has been the tenth anniversary of the UMIC conference and events business. To mark the occasion, we have undergone a new name change to UMIC Events and have gone back to basics with what makes the Innovation Centre a great venue. We are also very proud to become an official supporter of The Christie and look forward to supporting their campaign with a series of fundraising events for tenants and key stakeholders. We have stepped back, looked and listened to our clients' requirements and considered new ways we can heighten their delegate experiences. From the early enquiry stage, in the run up to the event and on the day support, we are really pleased with new external relationships we have developed as well as the existing ones we have strengthened with tenants and clients across UoM and NHS Trusts. We've invested in a programme of enhancements to boost our offer including a brand refresh, new website section with active news feature, improved signage and subtle re-decoration of the event spaces. It's been a pleasure to work with a diverse range of clients in the Innovation Centre and see them reach and exceed their event and marketing objectives. In 2016 we are pleased to be working on a new concept, UMIC Insights, a series of talks from key business leaders, innovators and creators from a variety of industries and disciplines, bringing together their thoughts on what make successful businesses stand out. This will run against a new series of talks, Inspire Now, where tenants and guests can join the team for a light lunch and listen to key and influential speakers giving their insights and ideas into how people can think differently. Each event will increase tenant and stakeholder engagement and bring people together in an enlightening way. In line with other events, 2016 promises to be bigger and better! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! UMIC Events (Simon and Colin) Update from Catering Academy and the Innovation Café As the winter draws in and the days get dark and cold, the catering team is here to keep your days warm! With freshly prepared hot dishes and not forgetting your subsidised Starbucks, where you can grab a cake, coffee and have friendly conversation with your experienced Barista, Scott. The changing of the clocks and with the annual pumpkin carve off behind us, can only mean that soon the shops will be full of Christmas festivities. Watch out for our Christmas Cracker offer in the Innovation Café as we close in on December. The Catering Team has a new leader, Chris Melia. Chris joined the team in November and has a long background in catering. His recent role was feeding the young and glamourous at film studios near Chester! So as well as looking to ensure you always get the best food and service to cheer your day, he may also have a little gossip for any Hollyoaks fans amongst you! He will be serving you, ably assisted by Craig the Head Chef, Libby, Jayne, Juan, Scott and Jenny who returns from maternity leave. We look forward to continuing our cracking working relationship with the UMIC team and tenants as well as supporting catering with the Events Team. A seasonal hospitality menu will go live in the Spring and Craig is looking forward to showcasing the teams' ideas and delights. We are also going to be supporting the team with their new series talks and events and hopefully we will see you there!
