The flagship intra-curricula programme is the Masters of Enterprise. This programme has been running since 2001 and many of the graduates are now running growing businesses. Inventya and Information Prophets are just two of the companies started by MEnt graduates which have now taken off. This is a one-year postgraduate programme which combines formal taught elements with a year-long enterprise project which is Entrepreneurship usually the student's own idea for a start-up business. The Enterprise Centre also provides core or elective elements which are available in all four faculties and are taken by over 1,700 students across the University. Extra-curricula activities such as workshops and summer schools provided by the Centre are enjoyed by twice that number. These include two venture competitions (Venture Out and Venture Further), a business idea competition in semester 1 and a business start-up competition in semester 2. Entry is available to any student in the University and now averages over 120 for the semester 1 and 70 for the semester 2 competitions. The competitions started in 2004 and the vast majority of the winners are now in businesses they started as a result. Manchester Entrepreneurs, with nearly 4,500 members, is one of the largest student-led entrepreneurship societies in the UK. It was set up in 2008 "to create and educate a community of future business and society leaders." It has two main sets of activities: the first is a set of regular activities for members (now described as 'the Inspire Me series') in which they can build and practice a key business skill, such as sales or coding.
