Through a variety of approaches, to
establish a very high and sustainable
quality and volume flow of invention
disclosures from across the University
campus which fully reflects the
University's research power and the
staff's creative outputs and to build
assets for beyond 2015.
Principal Strategies
> Various and regular IP prospecting campaigns;
> Ideas and funding competitions and challenges;
> Market research and targeting key areas;
> Positive collaborations with Faculty and
School colleagues;
> Active networking and co-ordinating with University
business development officers and functions;
Target
> Modern and sophisticated invention
evaluation techniques.
By 2015, to be regularly amongst the top universities
in the world for recording the number of invention
disclosures and which underpins an active
proof-of-principle programme of projects.
KPIs
> Annual recordal of invention disclosures in excess
of 300;
> Annual increases in number of Proof-of-Principle or
similar projects managed;
> Quality threshold of maximum of 10% of disclosures
passing through the UMIP screening;
> UMIP assessment and feedback to IP originators
process no longer than 8 weeks per disclosure.
