SPOTLIGHT
Shining a Spotlight on the Making a Difference Awards 2018
Now in their fourth year, The University of Manchester's annual Making a Difference
Awards for social responsibility are now open for entries, with a closing date of 22
January 2018.
The awards recognise and celebrate the many different types of social responsibility
achievements of University staff, students, alumni and partners in our local
communities.
Supporting young people who have limited access to a formal education due to
conflict and poverty; developing a new approach to improve autism symptoms and
behaviour in pre-school children and raising awareness of
homelessness in Manchester are just a few of the previous
winners of a Making a Difference Award.
The awards cover a wide range of contributions to the
University's social responsibility strategy, with categories
including sustainability, community and public engagement,
widening participation, social innovation, responsible
processes and equality and diversity.
UMIP are pleased to support the category for Outstanding
Contribution to Social Innovation and would like to
encourage individuals or teams working to create a novel
solution to a social problem to apply.
Previous winners and highly commended recipients state
how receiving a Making a Difference Award has helped
their raise awareness of the projects they are so passionate
about and highlighted the impact of their work, as well as
providing well-deserved recognition.
