UMIP WELCOMES
NEW COLLEAGUES
UMIP welcomes Dr Roisin McCallion as
Head of Commercial Transactions. Roisin
brings extensive negotiation and commercial
experience to the division, having joined us in
May, from a Senior Business Development role
within Smith & Nephew (S&N) PLC.
Roisin first joined S&N Group Research Centre
as a Biologist, investigating the cellular and
molecular mechanisms of wound healing and
scarring. She progressed through increasingly
senior roles in Laboratory Management, R&D
and Project Management, before joining the
Business Development team at S&N Advanced
Wound Management (AWM).
For the past 15 years Roisin has led and
executed high value technology and company
acquisitions, IP licences and divestments for S&N
AWM and Corporate Divisions.
Roisin works closely with UMIP's IP Development
and Partnering, 2D Portfolio and New Projects
teams, taking the lead in negotiating commercial
agreements, including licensing and investment
agreements and in the formation of new spin-
out companies.
Roisin comments: "I'm delighted to have the
opportunity to utilise my commercialisation
experience and negotiation skills to bring the
important and exciting inventions developed
here in Manchester to the global marketplace."
