Assignment
The transfer or sale of IP by the owner to someone else. An assignment of IP has
to be in writing and signed by the owner. For some types of IP, it is possible for
the owner to agree in advance that IP which they create in the future will be
automatically assigned to another party. The owner can also agree that they will
assign any new IP once it has been created.
