INNOVATION CENTRE 18 We have seen another successful year with tenant occupancy at 97%. UMIC continues to work with its tenants to provide the high levels of service expected. The new events programme incorporating UMIC tenants has been a great success. Tenants have been taking advantage of Health and Safety training offered by UMIC in conjunction with the University. In November, we held our second supplier day for tenants after an earlier event in the year. The day saw 12 suppliers in the CTF Street space allowing them to demonstrate, showcase and discuss their products and services. It provided a great opportunity for tenants to meet new contacts and strengthen current relationships. UMI³ has invited tenants to show off their culinary skills in December with a festive bake off. With a variety of winners and 'Best in Show,' the judging team will be headed up by special guest Mary McLaughlin from The Christie Charity. All proceeds will go to our new charity partner, The Christie. New Arrivals: MicroBioSensor is an infection diagnostics company developing point-of-care medical devices for enhanced patient care. UMIC was delighted to welcome MicroBioSensor to the Innovation Centre in September this year, welcoming back Dr Gordon Barker who has previously worked with UMI 3 on a variety of projects. MicroBioSensors TM act as early warning systems for microbial infection and are designed to be compatible with and complementary to existing (lab-based) infection control processes and techniques. MicroBioSensors TM will alert patients and / or healthcare professionals to an escalating infection via a simple all-or-nothing colour change in the device and help target appropriate intervention in a more timely and effective manner than is currently possible. We hope being based at the Innovation Centre will provide MicroBioSensor with the support and facilities they need and wish them well in their future activities. North Campus Incubator (NCI) NCI has seen great growth for many of its tenants, Siyemi and Frontier PR are now settled into Arch 29 and UMIC are looking for new opportunities to fill the vacant mezzanine within Arch 28. One of our longer standing tenants, Greenlight Computers, who work closely with UMIC, has provided a short piece on their time at NCI: Greenlight Computers and UMIC, working together successfully. Greenlight Computers Ltd has had another year of growth and development, and our relationship with UMIC continues to be a key factor in our success. When Greenlight Computers started in business in 2006, we turned to UMIC for assistance. The team at UMIC delivered excellent business advice and an ideal location initially at One Central Park (OCP) and currently at North Campus Incubator (NCI) – 'The Arches'. The Arches, located on the University campus close to Piccadilly, enables the Greenlight team to offer IT support & development to over 150 Manchester based businesses quickly and efficiently. We are also delighted it allows us to minimise our carbon footprint, often getting to clients by foot. In addition to being a UMIC tenant we are also a supplier, providing a range of IT support services to UMIC and several early stage tenants. From our Manchester HQ, we have expanded across the UK and offer a comprehensive range of IT solutions in the Cloud, Private Cloud & On Premise. The demand for quality staff has seen the 2014 launch of our 2nd business, Greenlight People Ltd, a specialist recruitment business focussed on IT, Science & Sales. Greenlight People has started with some high profile global & local clients using the new team's expertise. We have big plans for both businesses in 2016 and expect to continue expanding our relationship with UMIC. The UMIC facilities and support are exactly what we need and help us to service our customers and grow our businesses.
