The approach enables promising technology to be
identified and then taken forward in a focused way in an
environment which is at the same time academically
attractive and minimises disruption. It also enables
industrial researchers to maintain close personal and
professional links with researchers.
It's a big step from the lab bench to the depths of the
Gulf of Mexico and each side was realistic about the
nature of the commercialisation challenge. But the project
has produced a number of approaches which are soon to
be field trialled in the USA.
