Entrepreneur-in-Transit
Scheme Update…
Our EiT scheme invites
entrepreneurs to work with
us to explore the best ways
in which to engage with the
commercial market and
validate the appeal of
early-stage technologies.
Creative innovation teams
are formed between our
leading academics and
external entrepreneurs and
businesses at a much earlier
stage than our standard
process. This allows us to
respond to the needs of the
market in an agile manner
and direct our innovation for
more successful
commercialisation.
The scheme is growing and
developing with 4 projects
now under management.
> DataViewer Visualisation
project with Prof Steve
Watts, School of Physics
and Astronomy.
(EiT: John Collins)
> Radio to Terahertz Quasi
Optics
project with
Dr Bruno Maffei and
Dr Gaimpaolo Pisano,
School of Physics and
Astronomy. (EiT:
Nicholas Jones)
>
Phantom Limb Pain project
with Dr Steve Pettifer,
School of
Computer Science.
(EiT: Dr Rick Watson)
> HiSolar project with
Dr Magda Sibley, School of
Environment, Education
and Development.
(EiT: Leigh Wharton)
The business plans are
currently being developed
and we look forward to
seeing how our
entrepreneurs take these
exceptional projects to the
next stage. We are also
extending the reach of
this scheme to involve
Social Enterprise.
We are constantly looking
for people with the relevant
expertise to partner with our
academics and use their
entrepreneurial flair to
enhance technology
commercialisation outputs.
Could you add value to our
innovative projects? Do you
want to engage with a
world-class research
institution? Do you have
what it takes to be the
next UMIP Entrepreneur
in Transit?
