BEYOND THE LABORATORY
Increasing the volume of research in the RAI field is a key
strategic aim for RAIN.
In addition to that, RAIN aims to enhance the connectivity
between research and industry while translating
technology from laboratory environments into industrial
settings. Put simply, we want to get the robots earning
their keep.
By creating genuine connections, both in people and
technology, from research to deployment, RAIN is laying
foundations for long-term innovative working practices
and solutions.
This page provides a brief introduction to the activities
'beyond the lab', more detail follows in the next pages.
COLLABORATIONS
Working with others beyond RAIN
The challenges tackled by RAIN are complex and require
multi-disciplinary skills. At a high-level two distinct
areas of expertise are required: 'nuclear' and 'robotics'.
Within those topics are many sub-elements.
From the outset, RAIN has possessed the desire to
develop useful working relationships. Initially, of course,
this focused on healthy collaborations within the Hub
amongst its members. Beyond that, in broad sectors,
this spans outside the Hub across academia and into
industry. However, within those two groups are myriad
institutions, companies, programmes, projects and
teams.
