OUR PHILOSOPHY... in marketing our approach is to get to scale and momentum by protecting and promoting intellectual property which is drawn from across the whole University, including multi-disciplinary inventions. We are conscious of the need to translate as much of this as possible to international market-places, particularly socially important breakthroughs such as those with healthcare, clean-tech, and energy saving applications. We market these internationally as early as is sensible and always involve relevant UK-owned and UK-based firms and investors in all of our promotional campaigns and networking activities as part of this marketing. in contracting we know that to be successful deals have to work for all parties, so we work hard to conclude the "right" contract for each party on each occasion. in training we believe that the continuous personal skills development of all UMIP staff members is essential, recognising that relationship building and specialist professional knowledge are major aspects of our work, and we invest serious effort in this training. in communicating we understand the need to communicate to our shareholder and to our many and various stakeholders as frequently as we can to convey our message and services and to be open to input, advice and feedback so that we can consider how to improve our service and our impact positively. 20
