OUR ENABLING GOALS UMIP GOAL THREE: QUALITY, DIVERSITY AND SCALE OF FINANCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE To ensure, up to 2015 and beyond, that there is sufficient capital available to the University to enable any invention or proposal with commercial potential to be developed to a point of proper transfer into the market-place and to have the advisers and premises to facilitate the transfer in a proficient way to the University's and the IP originators' benefit. Principal Strategies > Diversifying income sources; > Developing substantial fund-raising activities; > Supporting UMIC activities and events; > Being business-like, responsible and ethical with professional advisers and investors; > Active networking in venture, enterprise and licensing executive communities and events on a regional, national and international basis. Target By 2015, to have secured at least three distinct avenues or sources of direct funding for Proof-of-Principle and for seed funding for licensing and spin-out projects, and to have established networks in the venture and project financing communities for the follow-on funding needs. In addition to work in harmony with our sister company, UMIC, for incubation premises, and to have established panels of leading patent agents, corporate lawyers and corporate financiers. KPIs > To initiate and manage 4 company sponsored IP funding schemes a year for licensing; Diversifying relevant income sources Developing a range of substantial fund-raising activities > To set up an Angel investing arrangement by the end of 2012; > By 2013, the establishment of a spin-out seed fund available to the University; > By 2013, the establishment of two Proof-of-Principle funds dedicated to the University, one for spin-outs and one for licensing. 18 Supporting UMIC activities and events
