UMIP GOAL TWO: LICENSING To have in place an excellent licensing and collaborations programme which engages small, medium and large companies internationally across the range of the University���s research, teaching and learning outputs. Target By 2015, to be considered as one of the leading universities for IP sales, licensing and co-development arrangements, as measured by sector relevant league tables and benchmarking, and comparable to the University���s rankings in research and teaching. Very positive personal rewards for creators of licensable IP KPIs 1. Year-by-year increase in the total number of sale, licence or co-development contracts concluded; Principal Strategies 2. Continuous annual increase in the value of IP and translational grants and co-development contracts to enhance licence and related projects, as measured through a three year rolling average; a) Establishing valuable partnership schemes with technology, healthcare and commercial firms; 3. Material cash fees and royalties received annually; b) Introducing an appropriate sales culture for licensing within UMIP; 4. Significant and growing number of processes and products in the market-place based upon University licensed IP; c) Deploying first-class and effective marketing methods; 5. Continuous annual growth in portfolio mix (exclusive and non-exclusive and School origin) and number of income-generating licences. d) Pursing excellent relationships with development partners and licensees; e) Enhancing effective IP licensing prospecting within the University; f) Adopting a proactive and cooperative approach with existing and potential creators of University IP; g) Having an IP Policy which emphasises the University���s commitment to its relationship with companies and very positive personal rewards for creators of licensable IP. 13
