To further increase its capability, GES has recruited Dr Gareth Jones, a specialist in opto-electronics from the University of Exeter. His positive impact on our technical capability is already being felt on projects such as Laser Graphene and the development of new VOC monitoring sensors. In recent weeks we have embarked on potential collaborations to provide commercial and technical support to academic spin-outs in gas sensors and graphene electrodes for batteries. GRAPHENE ENABLED SYSTEMS' ACTIVITY LEVELS CONTINUE TO INCREASE One spin-out has become fully operational and others are approaching commercial launch Grafine Ltd, began trading in September 2018 and has received support from the University. The company offers expertise to develop new high-performance elastomer materials enhanced with graphene and other nanomaterials in collaboration with global industry partners. Grafine, which will soon use the GEIC to carry out much of its development activity, has built a large prospect list of companies operating in a wide range of industrial sectors. Grafine hopes to secure its first commercial orders in the coming weeks.
