Business Bounces out
of the University
Grafine Ltd is a new spin-out created to
develop innovative high-performance
rubbers, elastomers and other such soft
materials enhanced with graphene - the
extraordinary 2-dimensional material first
isolated in Manchester.

Innovation award
winners revealed
SkinBioTherapeutics Ltd, a life science company
focused on skin health, landed Leading
Spin-Out while Ian and Lynne Hampson, both
molecular virologists, came out on top in the
Commercial Licence category for their work
on novel uses of lopinavir and ritonavir in HPV
related cancers.
Innovators land £30k
following UMIP's 'Next Big
Thing' finale
Three innovative spin-out ideas landed £30,000
following the final of UMIP's inaugural 'Next
Big Thing' competition which attracted 23
applications from entrepreneurial academics,
staff and post-doctoral researchers from across
the University. Data Value Factory, ICE NINE and
Eurimatics all secured £10,000 apiece which has
enabled them to start their commercial journeys
in the business world.
