Jo Kelley joins UMI 3 Board Jo has been responsible for a number of transformational deals while working as Vice President of Business Development, Head of Transactions at AstraZeneca. As a long-term business development professional she has experience in all types of transactions including M&A, technology licensing and collaboration arrangements. Jo has received a number of awards recognising her deal making achievements from colleagues and peers including recognition from The Pharmaceutical Licensing Group. Jo also held a number of senior general management and commercial leadership positions during a long career at AstraZeneca. She was the Head of the Emerging Markets group after the merger of Astra and Zeneca and led the integration and expansion of the international business. After retiring from AstraZeneca Jo has continued to pursue her passion to support UK innovation. She now works as a Director of Alderley Park Ventures and provides business development support for a number of life science companies. Jo comments: "I am delighted to join the Board of UMI 3 and feel very privileged to support the realisation of value from the University's world class innovation. The quality and diversity of the entrepreneurial projects and events that I have already been involved with is tremendous. My specialist area is life sciences and licensing but I am also hoping to making a significant contribution across the project portfolio. "It is a particularly exciting time to be working with UMI 3 , pursuing an ambitious vision to maximise the economic and social impact of The University of Manchester's inventions on the global stage. I am looking forward to meeting and working with staff, inventors and entrepreneurs in the near future." Jo Kelley joined the UMI 3 Board as non-Executive Director earlier this year.
