UMIP SAYS FAREWELL TO
DR RICH FERRIE, DIRECTOR
OF OPERATIONS
The 55-year-old reflects on more than 17 years
at UMIP and looks ahead to his next challenge
at University College Cork (UCC).
You've worked at UMIP for almost two
decades Rich. Given you've taken the decision
to move on, how proud are you of the past
17 years?
"It's been a great journey and one I'm very proud
of, as I've had a number of different roles which
includes Director of Operations, a position I've had
for the past seven years."
Are you leaving with fond memories of your
time in Manchester?
"It's not until you actually make the decision to
leave that you realise how hard it is going to be
to leave.
"I'd made that decision in August of this year.
Despite having already made it, it was only when
it was announced at both UCC in Cork and in
Manchester that it really hit me.
"People I've worked with soon began knocking
on my door to wish me well and I guess I then
realised how hard it would be to go."
What's the hardest part when it comes to
leaving?
"It's the people I've been lucky enough to work
with. Over such a long period of time, people
aren't just your colleagues, they are your friends as
well. And I will miss them."
