CASE STUDY: MIRRAX
The MIRRAX is a reconfigurable
mobile robot platform developed in
collaboration with Sellafield. It was
designed to be small enough to fit
through a 6-inch access port, and
reconfigure itself to travel through
complex, unknown environments.
It can fold at two points to create a
stable base for radiation and LIDAR
mapping sensors.
The MIRRAX has been widely tested
and the first version was deployed
onto Sellafield site. RAIN researchers
are now further developing this
platform based on feedback from this
deployment. This unique platform has
a wide appeal to a range of end users.
