WORKING
COLLABORATIVELY WITH
ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS
IN THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY
USING LARGE-SCALE,
REALISTIC CHALLENGES
Demonstrations are a core part of the
RAIN programme. Showing our technology
to end users and regulators provides an
opportunity to get invaluable feedback.
This accelerates the development process
and ensures the technology can be
successfully transferred into industry.
RAIN has demonstration facilities within
the heart of the UK's nuclear industry:
> Dalton Cumbrian Facility in West
Cumbria (Nuclear decommissioning)
> Fenswood Facility in the South West
(New build and plant life extension)
> Remote Applications in Challenging
Environments (RACE) centre in
Oxfordshire (Fusion)
These facilities allow us to work
collaboratively with engineers and
scientists in the nuclear industry, using
large-scale, realistic challenges.
Demonstrating the technologies we
develop in realistic settings makes the
potential benefits to a nuclear environment
clear. From this, projects can be identified
to support the translation of robotic
systems into the nuclear industry.
